The culture industry

In today lesson we talk about the culture industry theory which was made by Adorno and Horkheimer, this mean that items products was analogous ( comparable ) to other industries company.
An example of this was the X factor, we said that X factor was a part of capitalist ( a ecological system in mean the distribution are private or publicly owned ) institution who seek to maintain the status quo, we then applied this to the group JLS who was in the X factor, as they was sell more merchandise products then singles to the consumers. And that real talent is being corrupted by industrial capitalism
merchandise products are
Dolls Condoms and watches
We mention that capitalist institution have change them to a product to the music industry, as their appearances have change when they was in the X factor. We referred the X factor as a machine that produced, as JLS went into X factor as a R&B groups, but X factor changed them to a pop genre boy groups.

Adorno and Horkheimer view in cultural products was that it has been homogeneity (sameness mass culture).
We also said that capitalist corporation are omnipotent ( all powerful) and that they have full control of the artist and public and that capitalist corporation are hegemony ( Influences over another social group, in order to maintain the status quo).
